The expandable polystyrene (EPS) is a rigid cellular plastic with highly versatile uses, from medicine packages to construction industry and roads.
Innova´s technology uses extrusion for manufacturing expandable polystyrene beads in a uniform size, directly through micro-pelletization of polystyrene and pentane. It is an alternative to the traditional styrene monomer pelletization, which demands high water consumption.
As final products, beads with up to 3-millimeter diameter, which can expand until 50 times the original size through steam use, melted and molded in the most various forms.
FR 200N is a modified expandable polystyrene in the form of nearly spherical beads, containing pentane as an expanding agent and flame retardant additives (free of HBCD). FR 200N can be used in a wide range of applications including blocks, boards and profiles, thermal insulation panels and technical moulded applications. FR 200N does not contain chlorofluorocarbons and hydrofluorocarbons. Due to the use of halogenic flame retardant, FR 200N is suitable for the food packaging applications.
